Baerlocher Joins “Made in Germany – Made by Diversity” Campaign

Munich – March 26, 2019 – Baerlocher has joined almost 50 family-owned companies in Germany to advocate for more tolerance and global openness under the motto “Made in Germany – Made by Diversity.” The joint communication campaign, which will include advertising in selected print media, as well as messages on billboards in 15 German cities, will be implemented in March. Founded in Germany in 1823, Baerlocher, one of the world's leading manufacturers of additives for the plastics industry, has subsidiaries throughout the world. The aim of the joint initiative is to send a clear signal advocating tolerance and denouncing xenophobia. The “Made in Germany — Made by Diversity” message underscores the participating companies’ belief in peaceful and tolerant coexistence, regardless of where people come from. With this statement, the companies are clearly and unmistakably articulating their opposition to xenophobia. “As a family-owned company, we are very aware of our social responsibility. We welcome and develop talents from all over the world regardless of their Religion and Cultural Background. By participating in this initiative, we want to set an example for tolerance and a cosmopolitan attitude,” says Dr. Michael Rosenthal, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Baerlocher Group of Companies and a member of the entrepreneurial family. “Baerlocher has been internationally active for 36 years. Today we have subsidiaries and Joint Ventures in Europe, the Americas and Asia,” says Arne Schulle, CEO of the Baerlocher Group. “Tolerance toward other cultures and an unbiased solidarity with our colleagues from all over the world are part of the DNA of our company.” Timm Mittelsten Scheid, a Vorwerk shareholder and member of the Vorwerk family of entrepreneurs, initiated the idea. “The subject is of great personal interest to me. I think it's important for the economy to set an example in these times of socio-political debates,” Scheid explains. “That's why I'm all the more delighted that the idea has met with such a positive response among family businesses.” The advertisement will appear in selected daily German newspapers — including Handelsblatt, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, WELT, Funke Mediengruppe publications and other media — beginning on March 26. The ad will be also shown on poster panels in 15 cities in Germany. The following family businesses are participating in the initiative (in alphabetical order): ACEG, B.
