The foundation
The Plastics Additive Museum was founded in 1998, by the family of
Dr. M. Rosenthal, in celebration of Baerlocher’s 175th Anniversary.

The museum is located in Lingen, alongside the largest production site
in the Baerlocher group of companies.

The museum documents historical processes relating to all plastics and
their additives.

The aim of the museum, with both permanent and special exhibits, is to show
the role that plastics play in our lives, and their great importance of additives
in their production.

There is a strong focus on PVC outlining discussion on its sustainability,
aims to give visitors an objective view on this versatile polymer.

Opening
“The Pioneers
Milestones in Plastics”
With a very well-attended opening Baerlocher opened on 8 December 2011 in the company’s Plastic Additives Museum at the production site in Lingen, realized in cooperation with the German Plastics Museum exhibition “The Pioneers – Milestones in Plastics”.  Around 40 representatives from government, industry associations and heard interesting presentations and gathered information in the exhibition on the history of plastics. A plant tour rounded out the program of the opening.

Current Exhibition
“The Pioneers
Milestones in Plastics”
This touring exhibition is curated by the Deutsche Kunststoff-Museum
Düsseldorf (inventions) and is now shown at our Plastics Additive Museum.
The history of important plastics is highlighted with practical examples.
It particularly addresses a young audience and presents the industry as an
interesting option for their future career. Focus is placed on 10 pioneers of the history of macromoleculars and their inventions, and concentrates on how they are applied in every day life.
